Optimism – Embrace it…Realistically
In today’s era – those striving for success need to look for opportunities out of the challenges faced; aspire for growth and not just survival; establish BHAG’s (Big Hairy Audacious Goals) and not just SMART goals.
And, one critical element which differentiates those who are successful from those who are not, is optimism.
However, as “excess of anything is bad”, if you are pursuing an ambitious objective, embarking on a transformation journey – don’t be exuberant and just “dream about” the end results and success.
Be realistic, visualize the specific steps you would need to take in the short-medium-long term, in order to make success happen. Be cognizant of the obstacles, and yet have a positive attitude and conviction. .
We often use the analogy of the “glass half full or half empty” to describe and differentiate between an optimist and a pessimist. Well…I have even come across some, who look at it as completely full (water and air, they say)!.
The key is – “Realistic Optimism”. Look at the glass half full, and strive for getting the most out of it or even filling it up.
